Abstract

The object of this study is the detection of significant aspects of personality and their involvement in martial sports currently practiced in Romania.

It is considered by this, the option = the choice of the respective sport, in the context of practicing with superior results. The paper is intended to be primarily an evaluation and will seek to support hypotheses developed following a period of observations and inferences. The period of time spent, during which I was able to observe closely the activity of the group of kyokushin karatists -which will be part of the experimental group- led me to assume, following deeper analyzes, that in this type of sport certain components are manifested. of personality. Imagining an axis with direction in the psychology of evolution, combat behavior belongs to the primary reflexes of defense-combat or flight-behaviors that modern society has "strangled" and subjected to censorship of its rules; the practice of such a sport leaves free of action and avoids repression, repression of primary acts that unite individually with the way of expression of his ancestor: strong, masculine, vigilant, domineering by the desire to survive. The specificity of the fight implies the need for force to dominate, to subdue the opponent, and this is only possible if there is a high level of aggression and masculinity. We thus assumed that the mere fact of choosing such a sport, as well as its sustained practice are determined by certain personality patterns springing from the very temperamental matrix.
